Inception Workshop of the Technical Assistance
“Emission Trading System Piloting and Simulation in Vietnam”

Dear Sir/Madam,

The technical assistance (TA) “Emission Trading System (ETS) Piloting and Simulation in Vietnam” is part of the Southeast Asia Energy Transition Partnership’s (ETP) support for the Department of Climate Change (DCC) and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) aiming to promote the development of the carbon market in Vietnam. These supports are intended to help Vietnam set up a domestic carbon market and a carbon exchange, which will be piloted in 2025 and officially operational in 2028.

The main objective of the TA is to develop and organize training courses on ETS, using the ETS simulation tool tailored to the Vietnam context for various stakeholders including policymakers, research institutes, universities, financial institutions, media representatives, and especially big emitters that will be covered under Vietnam’s ETS in the future.

  6. Language: Vietnamese and English
  7. Participants: Leaders and representatives of government agencies that are responsible for the development of the carbon market and establishment of a carbon trade exchange in Vietnam such as the MONRE, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ministry of Science and Technology; other stakeholders such as banks, financial institutions, multilateral and bilateral donors, representatives of energy-intensive enterprises, business associations, media, etc.
